OMFG

I HATE blogger sometimes....

I typed up this huge long post on Word to copy and paste (did it in class, no internet access) for my post today...but it wont publish to my blog. It keeps saying "Error HTML CODE NOT ALLOWED" wtf???????????????????????????

This has happen before.

Why the F can't I publish it? Do I need to type it on blogger and not copy paste?

Makes me want to hurl my computer down 7 flights of stairs.

The post will be up tomorrow sometime, I just don't have time to do it today.

Anyone else have issues with blogger??

  1. Are you trying to post in the Compose or HTML mode? Sometimes one will work over the other, but if you have messed up coding (like open or broken tags) it'll catch it and try to get you to fix it before posting.

I've never had a problem going back and forth between programs... When I didn't have internet access I used to write up posts in Notepad or Word, or in Gmail when Blogger was having issues, and it always transferred over just fine.

  3. When you go to write a post, there should be a tab just above the text box (upper right corner) that says either "Compose" or "Edit HTML." If you see < and > symbols it's probably in HTML mode.

HTML mode is for people who know how to do their own HTML tags and so on, like <b>bold</b> for bold text. Compose mode is WYSIWYG -- what you see is what you get -- so you press the buttons and it does all the coding for you. :)

A "broken" tag would be if I had typed the HTML wrong, like if above I typed <b>bold</b and forgot to add the > at the end. Blogger usually picks up on things like that and I get a similar error message.

Since you don't seem to be trying your own HTML, I'm not sure WHAT is going on, but if you tried to format and/or add pictures or video in Word it might have just looked funny to Blogger.

If you have Notepad, you might be better off pasting the entry there, then copying THAT to Blogger, since Notepad just does plain text. It'll also remove any media, but you could always just fix it in Blogger again.

  4. Yeah that's what I was going to say. I have problems copying over from Word because if you save it the stupid program will add coding that you don't want. So just copy it from Word to the notepad (start menu/programs/accessories/notepad) and then copy it over to blogger. That should fix your problem. :D

  5. Check the box under the error and hit publish again :) Usually it happens if you forget a closing tag or something.
