Horsey Jobs

Or internships really....

Anyone have any wicked cool places they work or would like to work?

I can only think of practical horseman the magazine and Newvocations Horse adoption...I'm drawing a blank on some of the big name companies...

Maybe Devon-Aire or something. Hmmm.

I need an internship, or a job after I graduate and I honestly just don't know of how to get with said companies...can't even find email addresses or anything for stuff like that.

Suggestion s oh dear readers? You've always had lovely advice :)

As for the pony? He is fat and happy after his 3 weeks off. I will start light riding him in tomorrow!

  1. Smartpak would probably be fun... or Mountain Horse. Then I could get boots from you!

  2. Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue; LOPE Texas; HyCourt Farm in Cedar Creek, TX, or Oakhaven Partners in Austin, TX; There is a great German dressage (had killer jumping equitation back in his day!) clinician that is a Spanish Riding School graduate here in Blanco, TX, that is looking for a full-time working student (may also be allowed to teach lessons after evaluation as well) and will do free board for horse and human! That would be a great place to start dipping your feet in the water.

Also, Dover and SmartPak (SmartPak has job openings that they advertise for). Try the Jaipur Polo Company (they own brands like TuffRider) or FITS. Charles Owen, IRH, Pikuer, Goode Rider, just try any equestrian brand! Hit em up!

Try Yard and Groom, you can find some great openings on there. Also, don't be afraid to simply contact your favorite American riders and ask if they would like a working student. Tom Poulin supposedly has a good working student program. So does Outfoxed Farm in NY.

Publications: Warmbloods Today (they're a growing company!), Horse Illustrated, Dressage Today, any eventing mags (doesn't the USEA have one?) and I'm sure the Jockey Club has their own publication. Speaking of which, hit up the racetracks and see if they can hook you up with people or jobs.

When it comes to stuff like this: ASK THE WORLD! And the world will answer! It may not be a bunch and it may not be a high-paying dream job, but it will be a start, and a start is all you need!

I'd by no means understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward in your next publish, I'll try to get the cling of it!
